I originally purchased these after a fair amount of research because I was planning to use for hiking in muddy wet terrain -- short walks up to 45 minutes as well as to work outside in rainy weather for a job. While I didn't end up keeping them because I no longer needed them for the original purpose, I definitely would have kept them if I was still going to need them. The sole appeared to have an excellent tread (at least for my intended purpose) and the inside was quite comfy, more like an athletic shoe, which I really liked. They looked really good, too. I have thinner calves and usually I swim in boot shaft circumference, but these weren't bad. They weren't snug but I wasn't swimming in them either. I got a size 6 and they fit true to size. Very nice active type rain boots.Exactly as they appear in the picture.These boots are a better quality than the other unlined, duck style sorels. I had to order online and you never know how something will feel, and when I was in a shoe store recently I was very scared by the feel of the other similar sorel styles but these are great in comparison. The style is nice, the leather seems to be of a good quality. I can slip them on and off, which is exactly what I was looking for. I will likely wear this almost every day for the next two seasons.I put my own inserts in them so I can't say anything about arch support. There isn't much in between your foot and the ground so I imagine in the middle of winter these might be very cold. I bought my size, 5.5, and they fit perfectly snug. If you want room for really thick socks I would suggest ordering a half size up.The reason I am not super pleased is that after wearing these for three days, the tab on the back which you are supposed to use to pull them on over your heel broke off. It is supposed to be a sturdy part of the shoe that is expected to be tugged on and stressed, so that was quite a let down. I could have exchanged but I needed these right away. I still might.I bought this boot after returning a pair of Hunter's rain boot. These rain boot are of quality and fitted perfectly with additional space at the ankles allowing easy on/off. The boot has a gloss creating a professional appeal. The boot is very comfy however after walking short distances for several hours, the boot feels slight heavy. also the boot seemed heavy when pressing on the pedal, driving. Overall, for the price, I like the boot. The boot comes in half sizes after size 10 which is a plus for me.I LOVE these shoes!! They took a long time to break in, maybe a week or two. If you dont have a pair already it would be worth the investment to get thick socks that cover your ankle to break them in but now they are so comfortable! I ordered my actual size and they fit great with thicker socks and my thin ones. I havent worn them in winter but they are perfect for chilly and wet Alaska springtime. The red color is basically just as shown in the picture - more of an earth tone than a bright red.Perfect fit, I have a small foot, a little bit narrow, and this was a perfect size fit. I normally wear 5.5, ordered a 6 it’s perfect.These boots are so comfortable and perfect for wet and damp weather. I use them to take the dogs out, or to do yard work, when the weather is rainy or damp. They also are amazing when walking along the shoreline where you run into wet areas as well as soggy areas. Perfect all around waterproof boots. Also they don't have that terrible rubber smell that other similar boots have when you wear them. I also own a pair of Sorel winter boots another amazing great comfortable boot!I really love these. I had to wear long, thick socks while they loosened up around my foot/ankle. I’ve gotten comments that they look funny/weird but honestly comfortable (once you break them in, they arrive pretty stiff). I have tall Hunter boots that I rarely wear because they make my whole leg so hot and uncomfortable. I prefer my sorels for going out in the rain! The perfect amount of protection from the water/puddles to keep my feet and bottoms of my jeans dry!My wife was somewhat disappointed with these boots, but realized it outside of the return window. She has muscular calves, but has never had to order anything as "large calf". These are tight on the calf, to the point where it slightly squeezes. She is unable to wear skinny jeans with these because there is not enough room for anything to fit between her calf and the boot.Other than the circumference of the calf, these seem to be of good quality. The inside of the boot has cushion, which would be very comfortable if they fit right.Bought these for the wife she says - boots looked really good and robust in the picture. Took onboard about the width being narrow and went for a size 4 which was a perfect fit. Normally Im about a size 3.5. They look good. The downside of them for me is they are not what I expected. I was expecting a robust boot that would be good for walking about which I do nearly all day but the thing is I walk about on uneven ground. They are no good for that at all. The width being narrow doesnt give good balance on uneven and stoney ground and when walking in wet grass the waterproof membrane is holding well but the leather soaks up the wet like a sponge so early mornings when the grass is wet and the sun is shinning my feet were cold. Maybe I should have used a waterproof spray on them. I think they are ok for going up the shops in but for what I wanted them for they are no good. I think they are more of a fashion boot than a good sturdy walking boot. Sorry.I needed some highly waterproof boots for walking the dog as often end up splashing through puddles and mud, and walking through long wet grass. These are absolutely perfect - they were comfy straight out of the box. They do come up a little snug - I'm a 3.5 so purchased a size 4 as I wear thick-ish socks, and this was exactly right, although I have to loosen the laces slightly to get them on and off. Once they're on they're the most comfortable boots I own - I usually have to break boots in but there's no rubbing at all, and my feet are cosy and dry due to the waterproofing and fleece lining (which happily isn't too thick so you don't get too warm).
