(Forgive the length but I want to be thorough as boots are an important purchase)I got these boots after ordering and trying on a few other pairs that I couldn’t get over my calves or instep to save my life. The Sorels I tried were so unbelievably tight that it took me 5 min of struggling to get them over my instep. I’ve had similar issue with Uggs although they were better. I have thick calves and bc of a cellulitis infection it’s caused swelling in my right ankle and instep so I didn’t have high hopes for these. Alas I was shocked and awed! They went on smoothly and with no tugging or pulling and felt relatively comfortable and i can easily wear a pair of thick socks with no problem. This has been a many years long struggle for me so to finally find some that fit AND WERE JUST $35 (um HELLO!) is amazing and I feel like I’ve hit the lotto. I ordered a size 8 as that’s what I’ve generally worn in boots although I do vacillate back and forth from a 7.5 in shoes. These fit fine as I’ve said around my instep, ankle and calf. They did have a little more length than I needed so I could have sizes down to a 7.5 and probably been fine but these will work well with socks. With regards to the overall feeling in the boot it had that soft (synthetic) furry feeling which is nice. My only issue is one boot seems to have some oddness with how the fur was presumably glued in. It feels almost like they ran out of “fur” and cut a piece to size it and glued it in—it just sticks out a bit and adds a little layer of weirdness and pokes me ever so slightly. With thick socks I don’t think it will be much of an issue. The back of the boot is a little tough on the heel due to the waterproof rubber being not very flexible but I think that’s par for the course for these type of boots and not out of the norm. I may add in a little heel guard or something. As far as the calf fit they slide on so easily when the laces are loosened and they tie up within seconds (!) I worried about the ease of tying these boots up as I normally like boots that slide on but it is so simple that I have no problem. I have about a 18-19 inch calf on a bad day (ugh) so the tongue is stretched at the top of the boot and there’s a slight area of just lacing at the very top where my calves are thickest but it’s not terribly noticeable and the boots are generally very pleasant looking. The tongue of the boots is sealed across up until the very top 2-2 1/2 inches or so. I would have made it to up the whole way to keep from the “just laces” look but it is not a deal breaker whatsoever. I also would’ve made the laces slightly thicker para chord type of material. The boots have these tiny little finger straps on the top of the boots presumably for pulling them up(?) but they’re so incredibly small that it’s not easy to get your single finger in them to pull. Unless the little straps are for the laces to be pulled through to tie in the back - if that’s the case the laces will need to be replaced with longer ones.So those are my caveats-more nit picky type of things than anything else. I don’t have any info on how well they hold up in slushy or high snow but worked well on 2 inches and felt comfortable and didn’t slide around on ice. They look amazing (I got the grey quilted ones with bluish-teal laces and they have gotten plenty of comments already. I will adjust the rating and review if they don’t hold up well in the depth of Wisconsin weather-but so far they’re warm, fit well and do the job. I would certainly buy again at this point.UPDATE: I upped my review to a five star review after using them for daily use for the last month+ and just getting in from shoveling snow for an hour. I put these on barefoot bc they’re fuzzy inside kinda like uggs and I thought I was going to just clean my car off. Wrong! I ended up shoveling a foot of snow barefoot for an hour in Wisconsin and they kept my feet super warm. It was the only part of me that stayed warm. Couldn’t be happier! The boots have great traction and good warmth with the inner lining through the toe box. Width is fine but it’s a little snug. If you are a half size I recommend going up. Especially if you plan on wearing thick socks.Get a size up if you were thick sucks not water proof but worm and very flatringDefinitely go a size up !!!I was hesitant to order these snow boots for my daughter, but the high ratings finally convinced me to take the chance. I am SO glad I did. We currently live in a very frigid part of northern Europe, where it started snowing at the end of October, and there has been ice and snow on the ground since (it is now almost February); it's been quite an adjustment for our family, as we have always lived near the Equator! I didn't really know what to look for in a snow boot, but after purchasing these for my eldest daughter, and six pairs of different brands for myself, my husband, and our other four kids, I know now. This pair of Polar boots hits all the important features: waterproof, warm, not too heavy, easy to adjust (can be worn over leggings or thick snow-pants alike because of the laces) and put on, good traction, and of course, cute ;-). My daughter wears these daily; they are comfortable for her 15 minute walk to school in the icy conditions, as well as all day at school. The "gray textile/ blue" pair I ordered matches perfectly with her teal Didrikson parka (see my pic). She likes the taller shaft for aesthetics, and to keep deeper snow from falling into her boots. My daughter has been wearing these boots for almost 4 months now, and they are holding up well to the almost daily use.Overall, these are great snow-boots that are comparable to my Sorels. I definitely would not hesitate to order them again, and highly recommend them.I can’t remember the last time I had winter boots that kept my feet warm and dry. What a pleasure it is wearing these boots. I generally take a 7 Wide, but for some reason, Wide is rarely an option, so I went up a size and bought an 8. While the fit is just a little too big, it’s not so off that I would even consider returning them. I have plenty of room in the toe, yet they don’t slip or slide while walking, and the medium width does not squish my feet. My feet don’t even know it’s winter - and I’m in upstate New York! I want to go outside just so I can wear these boots! I absolutely love them. They also have a fashionable look - they aren’t clunky-looking, they don’t look like old ladies’ boots or necessarily for kids. It’s just a great looking boot. You don’t have to struggle to get them on, and you don’t lose your socks when you take them off. They lace up the front so the fit adjusts to your lower leg - you don’t have to adjust to the boot. It doesn’t matter if your lower leg is fat or skinny, the fit works for you, no matter what shape your leg is. I love these boots so much I bought 2 pairs- the shorter style in black, and the longer style in white. I love both pairs equally, and the price is more than reasonable. It’s always a risk buying shoes or boots online and I hate returning things, but I got lucky this time - these boots are a keeper.Update February 2020: yesterday I stepped out of my truck right into a puddle of ice cold water that covered the top of the foot of the boot. I thought it was all over. I figured they would leak, my socks would get soaked, and my feet would freeze until I got home. Not so. In fact, the only way I could get back into my truck was to step in the same puddle. Through the entire ordeal, my boots didn’t leak, my socks stayed dry, and my feet were nice and warm. I’m so glad I bought 2 pairs of these boots. I absolutely love these boots!I wanted a boot that was not too expensive that I could slide my feet in and out of easily and be super warm even if in bare feet for going in/out repeatedly letting the dogs out in winter ..and BINGO!!!! these are amazing. Holy cow are they are ever super soft on your feet with the soft fun fur all throughout, and no pulling them on ..I just slip my feet in easy peasy. The size is as expected. I am a 6 and it fits perfectly. Literally ...the boots stand up, and I slip my feet all the way in, don't bother tying them up, and let the dogs out ...they stay on well and I can't imagine a softer cozier boot. They are also very very light weight which is amazing making them a good boot to hike with on occasion without being hard on your body. The height is also nice, the tie system is perfect and easy ..amazing especially for the price! Bought these for my daughter in early December and within 2 months, the boots have deteriorated and leak. Disappointed with this purchase.very comfy, size was right on, was hoping it was more beige than white but oh well..good purchase.I love beautiful winter boots. I keep warm fit size. thanks
